Line 6 POD X3 Live: Blends and Pairs Patch Lists

People have really been wanting a patch list for the new Line 6 POD X3 and no one has done it yet, so I figured I would take ten minutes and make one. Patches marked with (blend) are dual tones designed to work on a single input. Patches marked as (pair) are designed to work on dual inputs, usually guitar and vocal, but this should be pretty clear based on the patch names. Patches that are pairs will have both tone names listed, separated by a / (slash). Without further ado, here are the patches in the Blends and Pairs folders:

How do I download the new patches for the X3 Live and how do you load them without being able to use Gearbox?
Thanks

These aren’t “new” patches for your X3. They are the patches built right in to the unit as it ships from the factory! While on the “HOME” page (press the HOME button once) you will see a folder on the lower left corner of the screen. Spin the first of the four multi-function knobs to scroll through the different folders. You should be able to see all the built in presets!

I actually just figured that out. Hey, it’s nice to hear from you! I got one of the first PODs in Seattle and nobody at any of the music stores knew how to get it towork on my Mac. I spent a lot of time with Line6 Tech who was great. I found Malhavok and a new world opened up. My wife and I have Blues band and your tones were great for covers. Are you still in Eugene? We’re in Hood River now. I swiched to the X2 Live and she’s at Apple Music picking up my new X3 right now. W/o GearBox how do you I put patches on the X3?

Right on, man! Yeah, I’m still down here in Eugene (Springfield actually, but pretty much the same thing). She’s just getting your X3 now? Awesome man, you are going to LOVE this thing! The Apple music row sure is fun to go down and look now and then but they still got the same crusty, unfriendly sales folk they’ve had in there for seventeen years! Sometimes when I go in there I wonder if the place is just a front for some illegal activities because they act like they don’t want to have me in the shop, let alone sell me any gear!

Without GearBox you can only put patches in manually, or by using the bundle backup/restore in Line 6 Monkey. I’m going to try to find time soon to write an article about using that process effectively. Word on the street is we will see GearBox for X3 around Q1 2008.

Try Toby ay Apple, he’s taken good care of us and mention my name. With their location they get some crusty drop in’s. That might effect their attitude.
I got error messages when I tried using Monkey to do a restore with my X2 Live. It said the line was in use. I’ve done 100’s of live performances with my trusty orignal POD with early Malhavok patches in fact another last weekend but I’m looking forard to running my harp mike through the X3. Do you have any suggestions for the Little Walter, small overdriven miked amp sound, for the harp from their presets?

Sorry, I haven’t ever done any harp miking so I don’t have any good suggestions! What I usually do when creating tones for the site is to do some research into what kind of gear, effects, and signal chain the original artist used. Maybe you can hit Google a bit and see what kinds of amps some of your favorite harp players have used with that mic.
