Hello Ben:

Great sounds! I recently bought the Gearbox Plug-in and I have an X3. I’m experimenting with the dual tones in the user folder and wanted to ask your advice. As you suggested, I separated each dual tone into two separate

I’m working in Digital Performer. Do you think I should run the dry sound on two separate tracks? Should each track be mono or stereo? then what would be the best way to ad the plug-in? Insert the two versions (ex. New Day 1 & New Day 2 FX), one on each track? Or, should I use aux’s and send each channel to two plug-ins (one on each aux channel?

Thanks,

Tom Wolfe

I’m not intimately familiar with the routing schemes of DP but I can relate my solution in general terms and you can extrapolate.

Method A:
Basically what you suggest for sending the track to two aux buses. Be sure to remove the original track from playback through the master bus.

Method B:
Duplicate the soundfile region to two tracks and use the plugin on each track.

Method C:
Use the plugin on the main track and feed the signal “pre fx” to another track.

In all cases I would use a mono dry track for standard mono signals like guitars, vocals, bass, etc. If you are processing something like a keyboard or drum overheads then it can make sense to use a stereo signal.

Thanks, You a a fantastic person for putting up all this knowledge. you ever come to Sweden I am buying you a beer.

I think Vesco Mirror is also a very good early Jimmy Page tone as well as EC, can find Heartbreaker solo in there pretty easy. Wonderful work.
